First of all, I need advice from you on how to get my *boys* to take a break from SkyRim. Seriously.

Second of all, online classes? You rock!! I can't wait to hear how you do. Maybe I'll be inspired to actually do that myself. It would work so perfectly with my life, but I am apparently too terrified to even take the plunge.

Third of all, your parents do all they do on a teacher's salary, or on any salary really?! They rock. Can they teach financial classes or life classes or something? I love your little venn diagram. So true. You are going to ROCK high-school. I have another friend going through the same thing with going from nursing to education - different reasons, but she's having to deal with the same reactions :/ . Let me know if you find another way to deal with it besides punching them in the face or giving them a high-five. With a chair. In the face. You know, something other than pinterest moments ;) .

I took my first online class last semester and was TERRIFIED, but it wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be. I thought I'd never be able to focus without a professor but in front of me but I surprised myself. Good luck! Ps: Love your blog!

Kiley, it's really brave of you to stop doing something you know you don't love and try and find something you do. More power to you! I'm sure you're gonna be an awesome teacher. :)

Also, I'm glad you're not in law school anymore. Because the law school kids I know are all kinda miserable and ONLY talk about law school. Seriously, it's annoying. I'd rather hear about Skyrim any day. :P

Good luck with school!!! I've never done online classes but I'm thinking of starting my 2nd masters this fall, so if you need a study buddy you know where to find me!!
And don't worry about people saying you won't make as much - my husband turned down a lot of stuff to do what he loves, and he might not be a millionaire but he's excited about work everyday!!!

Wow. That is far and away the best title for a post I've seen in quite some time. Anyway, it really is terrible when people think they know what's best for you. My best teachers were the ones that truly had a passion for teaching, as I'm sure the best lawyers are the ones how have a passion for it. I used to think med school was my best option, but I blew that plan up in college and I'm far better off for it. Best of luck on your new path!

Thank you so much for this great post! I think many sharp critical thinkers *could* study law, but that skill set is so desperately needed in other fields it is heartwarming to see people apply it to where they are most passionate.You are already setting a good example to your future students by following your heart. Way to go you!

Congrats on making the decision to change! I was on the path to becoming an accountant and realized I had absolutely no interest anymore and had to back track and basically start all over. I'm now in school to become a teacher as well. All that really matters is that you will be doing what makes you happy, everyone else can suck your big toe!

I think you're doing the right thing. If only people realized that money isn't the only reason to choose a certain career. Maybe there'd be less assholes in life if people were actually HAPPY doing what they're doing. Good luck to you. And for what it's worth from a perfect stranger, I'm proud of you for having the courage to quit something that you just weren't happy doing. That's a hard thing to do. You are strong.

When my daughter told a particular person she was going to college to be a history teacher, this person actually said to her, "why, are you sure you want to stick with that?"
It was so hurtful. I am extremely proud of her!
